If you have a fitness and health blog, it’s not long before one of your readers will ask for help identifying cholesterol supplements that work. We’ve looked at the results from a lot of different products, some based on studies, and some based on the experience of friends, family, and subscribers. When we went looking for the best lowering cholesterol supplement we could find it always led back to one product: Cholesterol Optimizer.
What is Cholesterol?
Cholesterol is a substance your body needs to make vitamins, make other hormones, and to build your cells. Cholesterol itself is a substance like wax. It comes from two different sources. You get cholesterol from foods derived from animals. In other words, poultry, meat, and most dairy products contain what’s known as “dietary cholesterol”. However, your liver makes all the cholesterol your body will ever need.
That’s right. You never need to eat one bit of dietary cholesterol. Your body gets all the cholesterol it needs from the liver. But, most of us want to include poultry, meat, and dairy products in our diet. That creates somewhat of a dilemma.
Bad Cholesterol Versus Good Cholesterol
Yes, some cholesterol is “bad” and some cholesterol is “good”. Bad cholesterol is known as LDL Cholesterol. That’s the acronym for low-density lipoproteins. LDL Cholesterol contributes to fatty arterial buildups (aka atherosclerosis). These can narrow arteries and increase the risk for stroke and heart attack.
Good cholesterol is known as HDL or high-density lipoproteins. They’re called “good” because having a healthy level of HDL cholesterol may actually protect against stroke and heart attack.
As cholesterol circulates in the blood it can combine with other molecules to form a hard, thick deposit on the inside of your arteries. This can serve to narrow your arteries making them less flexible. This is known as atherosclerosis. Formation of a blood clot in one of your arteries narrowed by cholesterol can result in a stroke or heart attack.
The right levels of LDL and HDL cholesterol are important for good health. When that mixture is difficult to attain by diet and exercise, people often turn to lowering cholesterol supplements.
Cholesterol Supplements that Really Work
It seems like a simple proposition to identify cholesterol supplements that really work. But, it’s really not that simple. There are a lot of products that are not the best cholesterol supplements.
Many are not made from natural products. It’s important that your cholesterol care supplement doesn’t introduce man-made or processed ingredients into your body. This can actually be counterproductive resulting in an unfavorable ratio of HDL to LDL cholesterol. You need to only consider a high cholesterol supplement if it’s all-natural.
Being supplements and not drugs, cholesterol supplements are not evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for results and adverse reactions. We personally prefer recommending only lowering cholesterol supplements made in the USA.
With lots of “impostors” on the market, finding cholesterol supplements that work requires looking for supplements with a long history of success, preferably with customer reviews acknowledging how well it works. Some products we reviewed were missing this key indicator of a supplement’s effectiveness in positively affecting cholesterol levels.
Finally, it makes sense that top cholesterol supplements would have some sort of guarantee. Surprisingly, that wasn’t the case. Many didn’t offer one or offered only a limited-time guarantee. We would expect manufacturers of top cholesterol supplements to offer guarantees of at least one year.

I learnt several things about cholesterol from this post, including that poultry also contains cholesterol. I somehow thought is was really red meat and hard cheese that were high in cholesterol and had to be eaten in moderation.
You mention that the Cholesterol Optimizer is made from natural ingredients and no genetically modified organisms, which is great to see. But are the ingredients also organically grown?
Thanks for your comment. I could not find specific information about ingredients being organically grown on their website. But, I asked the question through their “online chat” and I was informed that, yes, their ingredients are organically grown.
If you have additional questions, you might want to try their chat. The response was timely and they were available even though it’s “after hours” where I am located.
This is such a great article, William! Both my parents have been suffering from high cholesterol for a long time now, it worries me so much even with their diet being monitored. I tried looking for some supplements but like you said, most of the supplements are made of non-natural ingredients which scares me so much! The Cholesterol Optimizer looks like a great product for my parents to try out as I really am concern of the ingredients made in a supplement. Your article has given me a great depth of information on this supplement! I do have a question, I stay in Malaysia so will they be able to get it ship over here?
Thank you so much for your in-depth article on this supplement, you don’t know how much it might help people out there! After all, health is the most important aspect in life!
Thanks for the comment. According to their product page, they ship worldwide. So, they should be able to get it to Malaysia.
If possible, please come back and give us your parent’s feedback on Cholesterol Optimizer.
Hi William and thanks for the post on lowering your cholesterol naturally. When I began reading your post, I did wonder what could be the natural ingredients that were in this pill. There are many wonderful things in nature to solve many of our health issues. If we eat right it usually goes a long way in enhancing our health. Thanks for giving us a natural alternative to lowering blood cholesterol rather than prescription drugs. All the best.
Carolyn @We Get Fit at Home
I have always been a tad bit skeptical about supplements that help to do things like these. Lowering cholesterol to me some thing That Hass to be done naturally through natural means of life. But I can see from the evidence that you have provided hear that this is not such a bad option! I really do appreciate your information and you were teaching me something new
I eat a lot of cholesterol and don’t focus on trying to lower my cholesterol. Your brain functions on cholesterol. I think if you want to lower your cholesterol, it is important to do so with a doctor and some good blood monitoring. Remember, your brain is highly dependent on cholesterol. You want to make sure that it has enough fuel to function.
Thanks for the comment, Melinda. You are right, we have a need for cholesterol and it’s always a good idea to consult your doctor on health issues. But, my research indicated that the liver makes all the cholesterol your body needs. Dietary cholesterol provides no discernible benefit and has serious health implications. I’d be interested if you could point me somewhere that offers a different perspective.
Hello, your Topic is excellent, specially for a health condition that most people have, these type of articles are meant to be for those who are struggling to reduce their cholesterol levels, i’m one of those people, I like the way you start with the question: What is cholesterol?
Cholesterol is created in the body from the greasy and fatty food we consume, but I think you should mention also that some people’s bodies created cholesterol natural, even though they have a veggie diet. I think it’s time that doctors start prescribing more natural medicine than prescription drugs, that in the long run can cause other illnesses.
I will put a couple of more pictures just to give a little bit more color to your page, overall the content looks great.
Keep up the good work and Good Luck!
Thanks for the comment.
Actually, my research indicates EVERYONE’S BODIES (regardless of diet) creates all the cholesterol they would ever need. It is true people also get cholesterol from meat and poultry in their diets.
Point taken on the pictures. I will keep that in mind. Thanks.

Geting healthier has been a big prirotity for me the last 2 months. We changed our eating habits, have lost weight and feel much better. One of the things I still do is eat 2 eggs at least 5 mornings a week. My wife was concerned what that will do to our cholestorol. I don’t think it has hurt our levels. I probably need to get checked more often. I know diet is big and if we had not changed ours, we would probably be in the market for supplements to keep our cholesterol in check. This is a good article for those wondering more about how to lower their levels. Thanks, I will keep this post bookmarked for future reference.
Thank you for this article, My mom suffers from high cholesterol and I never really understood much about it. I have learnt a great deal from this article, I am not sure how educated my mom is on this matter or what her Doctor has told her about Cholesterol but I will definitely be passing on to her what I have read here. Thank you very much
